The workshop introduces a learning unit focused on advanced GIS skills for hazard modelling and mapping. The learning objective of this unit is to expand students’ capabilities to use GIS as an analytical tool, gaining transferable skills and experiences that can be applied to a larger range of environmental challenges. Specifically students will be able to:
- use multi-temporal imagery to monitor changing land cover over time;
- integrate freely available global datasets to undertake hazard susceptibility analyses over large areas;
- perform suitability and network analysis to guide the planning of evacuation routes; and
- customize project output and share online.
