The “Strengthening the Climate Adaptation Capacities in the South Caucasus” is a four-year project of Scientific Network for the Caucasus Mountain Region (SNC-mt) and its secretariat’s supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

The project’s goal is to reduce the population’s vulnerabilities towards climate-induced natural hazards and to strengthen regional cooperation on climate change adaptation challenges and sustainable mountain development in the South Caucasus.

The project seeks to mobilize the transnational and cross-sectoral expertise of SNC-mt in order to help consolidate and mainstream activities of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the South Caucasus and, furthermore, to embed hazard mapping in the larger context of disaster risk reduction (DRR), which is a core feature of sustainable mountain development in the 2030 Agenda.

The Project comprises three components focused on the improvement of teaching-learning practices in higher education institutions in disaster risk management, improvement and expanding a dialogue among wide-range of stakeholders of the Caucasus countries for creating common solutions and instruments for sustainable mountain development and establishment of free-assess up-to-date knowledge and information on the Caucasus eco-region.
